Commencement - Class of 2009

Institute Of Space Technology celebrated its 4th Commencement 2009 with the graduation of 45 students, in the disciplines of Communications Systems and Aerospace Engineering on Saturday 30th May, 2009.   Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, NI, HI, SI. an eminent scientist par excellence, Member Science and Technology Planning Commission of Pakistan was the Chief Guest. Mr. Raza Hussain, Chairman Suparco and Other senior dignitaries from the military and civil society were also present on the occasion. The chief guest awarded 24 students with the B.S degrees in Communication Systems Engineering and the remaining 21 were conferred with the B.S degrees in Aerospace Engineering. He gave away the President of Pakistan Gold Medals to Mehwish Ahmed of Communication System Engineering and to twin sisters Asma Qadir and Ayesha Qadir who jointly stood first in the Aerospace Program. He also decorated the students with Vice Chancellor’s Medal for best final year projects. The students were Qasim Raza, Ahsan Ahmed Yousaf and Zohaib Ahmed Chohan from Communication Systems Department and Shuja–Ur-Rehman and Ahmed Bilal of Aerospace Engineering Department.

Dr. Samar Mubarakmand appraising the institute’s wholesome contribution in the field of Space Technology while congratulating the graduates also cautioned them that this day marks the start of a new beginning and they should not he complacent and must always continue in their quest for knowledge. He said that they should make a place for themselves in their challenging world & in their highly competitive profession by sheer hand work and professional competence. He also said that “wherever you go and whatever ends you pursue, you must always fulfill the trust reposed in you by your nation, your parents and your alma mater”. 

Prior to this, Vice Chancellor Engr. Imran Rahman felicitated the graduating students on their hard work and ultimately accomplishing their studies with great success. He addressed “as graduates of science and technology, you will be creating the technology which will shape a vastly different world over the next decades. This is truly an awesome concept. That today’s laboratory prototypes are indeed tomorrow’s realities. Your real task is to invent the future. The study of history you inherit only sets the foundation of history you will make.”

IST also showcased the various projects of the graduating students which were appreciated by Dr. Samar and the visiting dignitaries.
