General Eligibility Requirements for HSSC / A Level / Equivalent:

A candidate seeking admission to a baccalaureate degree program at IST must meet the following criteria:
Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
For Engineering Programs

  • SSC/ Equivalent Certificate (Science) with 60% marks
  • FSc Pre-Engineering/ Equivalent Certificate with minimum 60% overall marks (Part-1 and Part-2 combined)
  • 50% marks in NAT-1E/ HAT-UG-E or SAT-II (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics level–II with at least 50% marks in each subject)
  • A-Level / Cambridge/ Students with any qualification other than FSC Pre-Engineering should obtain IBCC certificate equivalent to FSC Pre-Engineering with overall 60% marks
  • Pre-medical students with additional math or appearing for additional math papers are eligible to apply
  • HSSC/ A-Level final result awaiting students are eligible to apply
For Space Science Program:
  • SSC/ Equivalent Certificate
  • FSc Pre-Engineering/ ICS/ Equivalent Certificate 
  • A-Level / Cambridge/ Students with any qualification other than FSC Pre-Engineering/ ICS should obtain IBCC certificate equivalent to FSC Pre-Engineering/ ICS
  • Pre-medical students with additional math or appearing for additional math papers are eligible to apply
  • HSSC/ A-Level final result awaiting students are eligible to apply

For BS Mathematics Program:
  • SSC/ Equivalent Certificate
  • FSc / ICS / General Science / DAE / Equivalent with Mathematics and Physics/ Statistics
  • A-Level / Cambridge/ Students with any qualification other than F.Sc. / ICS / General Science / DAE should obtain IBCC equivalent certificate
  • Pre-medical students with additional math or appearing for additional math papers are eligible to apply
  • HSSC/ A-Level final result awaiting students are eligible to apply

International Students: 

International applicants are also required to fulfill other requirements laid down by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the admission of international students in Pakistani Higher Education Institutions/ Universities.


General Eligibility Requirements for Diploma Holders

Two (02) percent of the total numbers of seats in engineering programs are reserved for diploma holders.

A candidate seeking admission against reserved seats for the holders of Diploma of Associate Engineer, the candidate should have passed diploma examination from a Board of Technical Education in the relevant technology.

Candidates applying against the reserved seats for Diploma of Associate Engineer shall not be eligible unless their DAE discipline is in relevant technology as specified against each degree course given below:

 Applicant must meet the following criteria: 

  • SSC/ Equivalent (Science) with 60% Marks
  • DAE (Aggregate) with 60% Marks
  • 50% marks in NAT-1E/ HAT-UG-E or SAT-II (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics level–II) with at-least 50% marks in each subject
NAT Acceptable Test Dates

Please note that NAT-1E is acceptable for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering Programs offered by IST.

The test is conducted by NTS in all major cities of Pakistan. Interested students are required to visit NTS website i.e. http://beta.nts.org.pk/Products/NTSNAT/nat-test.php or contact NTS to get desired information related to the registration procedure for NAT-1E test dates and centers etc.


The results of the NAT-1E tests taken from  July 01, 2019 to June 30, 2020 are acceptable to apply for admissions in Fall-2020 semester.
HAT Acceptable Test Dates
HEC has established Education Testing Commission (ETC) to hold Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) for UG admissions.
Following HAT categories are applicable for admission in IST:
a. HAT–UG–E: For all undergraduate programs 
The results of the HAT-UG-E tests announced/ available from July 01, 2019 to June 30, 2020 are acceptable to apply for admissions in Fall-2020 semester.
SAT II Acceptable Test Dates
The result of SAT II (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics level–II) test announced/ available from July 01, 2019 to June 30, 2020 are acceptable to apply for admissions in Fall-2020 semester.

The IST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 7966.

The last date for SAT II scores to reach IST is same as mentioned in admission advertisements/website. Scores received after the deadline will not be entertained. 

Candidates applying on SAT II basis have to enter their SAT II Subject Test scores in their online application form otherwise their application will not be processed.
